I guess I am not the only one who is quite annoyed that nowadays everything is AI. Literally everything that’s beyond an if/else is advertised as AI. Machine Learning doesn’t seem to exist anymore.
Unless … Unless it’s not cool!
The last days I read that publishers / creators “expressed their displeasure” that YouTube secretly tested AI video enhancement without notifying creators (Ars Technica). I don’t even want to get into the details (like some ppl said that their videos look entirely different from what they uploaded). But what really made me really laugh is the sentence from the post on X:
“No GenAI, no upscaling. We’re running an experiment on select YouTube Shorts that uses traditional machine learning technology ….“
Oh, come on… I’m pretty sure that if the test had been successful without any fuss, then it would definitely have been AI.
