If you’ve followed my blog, youknow that I’m trying to get rid of BigTech services — without sacrificing convenience (too much). Over the year I’ve replaced quite some services, but what I underestimated a bit was OneDrive.
At first I thought: OneDrive = file storage. Easy.
But … there’s also my offsite backp being synced to it.
And OneNote syncs through OneDrive.
And my Keepass database.
And I share links to files and photos with friends through it.
None of it was unsolvable! It also wasn’t a lot – but unexpected.
And each use case required an own alternative to be found, set up, evaluated and decided. That was just tedious because each alternative came with its own challenges.
But … I think … when I’ve moved my offsite backup I might really be away from it. Finally.
